Summary, etc. The Author Has Prepared The Text Of The Four Volumes Of The Book In Such A Way That It (Kerala) Played A Glorious Part In The Spread Of Culture And Commerce. That These Volumes Will Indicate. The Style Of The Book Is One Of Copious Note On Various Aspects Written In Visschers Letters From Malabar. The Letters Themselves Are Short, But The Commentary That He Presents Are Very Scholarly And At The Same Time Very Friendly. He Picks On A Topic And Treats It Fully In His Commentaries. The First Volume Covers The Name, Topography And Colonization Of Malabar. The Second Volume Is Indigenous Disorders And Seasons Of The Year The Third One Comes The Description Of Calicut And Cochin And The Conduct Of The English. Other Point Of Discourse Are In The Four Volumes That Is The Description Of Quilon, Cranganur, Dutch Fortress In Malabar, English Possessions, A War Narrative, Description Of Canara, Goa Etc, The Portuguese Customs The Expense And Importance Of Malabar To The Dutch East India Co. The Possession Of The East India Company, English Trade In Malabar, Ruling Families, Wears Among Them, Funeral Ceremonies, Dutch Government And Ruling Houses. So These Four Volumes Of The Book With 2,500 Pages With Few Important Illustrations Are Immensely Beneficial For The Common Readers In The Context Of Kerala. About The Author:-K.P. Padhmanabha Menon (1857-1919) Was An Indian Historian, Born At Elamakkara, Near Edappally, In October 1857. He Was The Son Of 'Diwan Peshkar' P. Sankunny Menon Author Of Travancore History. His History Of Kerala In Four Volumes With 2,500 Pages Was Completed In 1910. Through His Work Kerala Charithram (History Of Kerala), He Surpassed The Talents Of His Father. He Was An Eminent Advocate, Judge And Historian. He Also Wrote Kochi Rajya Charithram (History Of Cochin). He Was Also The Advocate General Of Madras Government And Member Of Marumakkathayam Committee. He Died On 1st May 1919. He Used A Portion Of The Aluva Palace For This Work
