| Summary, etc. | Dr. B.R. Ambedkar (1891-1956), a born rebel, is the builder of modern India. He drafted independent India’s constitution. Educated in USA and UK, he is that rare combination of a scholar, revolutionary and statesman who fought for the socio-political rights of millions of untouchables. Dalits are those untouchables, who followed Ambedkar and Harijans are those who followed Gandhi. History of India is really the history of conflict among the Buddhists and the Brahminists for centuries. The creation of untouchability is the religious persecution of the Buddhists by the Brahmins. He born as an untouchable with no rights to be an equal in Indian Society, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar educated himself as the most qualified person of his time, inspired untouchable castes to reject Brahmanical Social Order (BSO) that kept them socially degraded, economically poor, culturally despised, politically powerless, and denied them the “basic human rights”. He challenged the leadership of his time by exposing follies of their proposition of freeing India without freeing millions of untouchables, tribals and socially and educationally backward classes living in sub-human conditions under the Socio-Economic Raj of the Hindus. The Dalit Buddhist movement is a 19th and 20th-century Buddhist revival movement in India. It received its most substantial impetus from Bodhisattva Babasaheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s call for the conversion of Dalits to Buddhism, to escape a caste-based society that considered them to be the lowest in the hierarchy. This book is a comprehensive design to offer and in-depth analysis of the major, and rather disturbing, global problems in the human-centred and Gandhi’s and Ambedkar’s view towards an enlightened India. |
