| Summary, etc | The subject of this book is the emergence of a new Turkey from the decline and collapse of the Ottoman Empire. Although there have been many books on the Turkish revolution, this is the first in which the development of modern Turkey is examined in detail over a period of two centuries, and with extensive use of Turkish as well as Western sources. In this new edition, the author has made a number of corrections and additions, and has revised the presentation of several topics to take account of new evidence and new research. |
